Are you planning for waxing and tanning close together? Before fixing your appointment for any of this service, you should read below the pros and cons of waxing before or after tanning.

Waxing before Tanning-

To extend the life of your tan, plan your waxing appointment 2-3 days before your tan. This is recommended of doing both treatments together and keeps your skin healthy and shiny!

Waxing before tanning is a good way of exfoliating your skin. But it is not recommended to get a spray tan on the same day as your waxing. This is because if you get tanned after the wax, your skin won’t have enough time to recover from the irritation.

Because of waxing, your pores open and are exposed post-wax and tanning solution can very easily settle into those pores that will leave your tan looking extremely uneven and patchy and creates unsightly dark spots on your body. The pores need time to recover. This will allow the tan to stick to your skin better and you will get a longer-lasting tan.

It is advised that you should stay out of the sun for at least 24 hours before and after waxing to give your skin some time to rest. Waxing can take off a top layer of dead skin along with the hair, and you don’t want to expose this fresh layer of skin to the sun.

If you are not sure about getting wax or tan, consult your dermatologist to get their recommendations.

Waxing after Tanning-

This is self-explanatory; you will lose any tan that has been applied. Waxing strips away some of your dead skin cells with the hair that’s why every time you wax following any tan, you lose a bit more color due to the hair removal method. That’s why waxing before tanning is key!
